Chapter 1:
Winters,
not a favorite season of mine but just cuddling in blanket and feeling
the warmth and coziness, when it's chilling outside is an amazing
feeling. I was going to sleep after the hectic day at work; just then my
cell phone rang.
It
was Akhil, we work together in Asian bank IT division. I picked the
call cursing him for calling so late but he told me that he is on his
way to my home and I should get ready as Sanjana one of our friend is
ill and we have to take her to hospital. In ten minutes we were on our
way to City hospital which is near to Sanjana's house .She was having
high fever and was shivering because of that. She was admitted and we
were asked to stand outside the chamber as doctor was checking her.
Later on the doctor came out and told us that it might be a case of
malaria and she has to conduct some tests but in the mean while she gave
some meds to her and she is sleeping now. She asked us to go home as
the reports will come tomorrow and treatment will start after that. She
said her name is Dr. Archana and we could reach her in case of any help.
She would be in her mid-forties but had a charisma in her presence.
Even working in night shifts in chilling weather, there was a glow of
satisfaction on her face that she felt doing her job. She was really
humble, the confidence in her voice gave me an assurance that Sanjana is
in safe hands and will be soon healthy.
We
sat in the visitor area; Akhil went to bring us some coffee. I was
listening to music when I saw a familiar face, a guy was passing by he
seems to be very worried as he was taking big steps, was sweating in
winter and had a furrow on his face. I instantly recognized him, he was
Raman .I met him a year ago in one of my friends party. He was there
along with his wife Ishita.I generally don't remember everyone I meet
but this couple was a special one.
I
am not a very social person its better to say than saying that I hate
parties. In one such party, thrown by my friend Meghna I was slogging,
when I came across a girl. She was a simple but beautiful. She was there
with her husband. By just looking at them you can say that they were
way much in love. The way they moved around each other, like magnets as
if they were meant to be together. The sparkle in her eyes showed the
love and warmth she had for him. I was all mesmerized and was getting a
little jealous when Meghna introduced them as Ishita and Raman, they
were newlywed and as per her they shared a very captivating love story.
She asked them to share it with everybody, Raman being the sport among
them agreed the very moment.
He
started, as with our names (Raman Bhalla and Ishita Iyer) the first
idea which crosses peoples mind is that since our community is different
we would have faced family objection and we would have eloped and
married against them.
Well
that's not the case; our parents are most understanding and supportive
one kid can ever have. Ishita was having an ear to ear smile while she
was intently listening to Raman. He continued you might be surprised
that we started off as enemies and ended here, he sweetly pecked Ishita.
So here I start from the start ...
